A major tourist destination is the ‘’Primicias ranch’’, a privately owned area with over 150 acres adjacent to the territories of the Galapagos National Park. Tortoises migrate from the park to the property at certain times of the year. They go in search of shade, water or proper places to incubate their eggs.

Tortoise breading center: The Tortoise Breeding Center of Isabela Island is located 1.5 kilometers from Puerto Villamil. This Breeding Center is reproducing in captivity Galapagos tortoise, in total there are 330 turtles between juveniles and adults.

Flamingo Lake:

To the west of Puerto Villamil there are various salt and brackish lagoons which house an impressive variety of coastal and sea birds. Here, visitors can also find the largest concentration of flamingos in Galapagos.

Tintoreras Islet:

The Tintoreras Islet, located a short distance from Puerto Villamil, is home to a great variety of wildlife. Its turquoise, crystalline waters are inhabited by white-tipped reef sharks, Galapagos penguins, marine turtles and sea lions. One of its beaches, surrounded by mangroves is one of the few sites where marine iguanas can reproduce successfully.

Day 3

Full daily tour at Floreana island.

Asilo de la paz: Asilo de la Paz is a hill located after the agricultural zone of Floreana, where we will find the pirate caves and the water springs at the base of the hill. The water spring provides water for the entire population of the island, about 100 people.

The caves were home to pirate Patrick Watkins, who lived there around the 1700’s. In 1929 a German philosopher and dentist Dr. Friedrich Ritter settled there with lover Dora Strauch. Then came to stay there Heinz and Margaret Wittmer, who soon gave birth to Rolf, the first “galapagueño” citizen. We will engage with some fascinating stories of mystery and survival on the islands, as one of the self-described Baroness Eloise Wagner von Bosquet and her three lovers.

La loberia:

La Lobería, a small beach with a sea lion colony that lives on the beach and along the bay coast. Here we find also marine iguanas and green sea turtles that nest on the beach. Swimming and snorkeling here will be a pleasant way to end a breathtaking day.

Day 4

Full daily tour at South Plazas or North Seymour Islands.

South Plazas: Trail circumnavigates the island displaying the combination of dry and coastal vegetation zone. The island is home to enormous prickly pear cactus and the endemic succulent sesuvian. These succulents with almond-shaped leaves are green during the rainy season December-May. Then become red during the dry season giving the island an unusual appearance. South Plazas has one of the largest populations of land iguanas in the Galapagos. The iguanas seem to be everywhere once you land. These larger than average yellow-brown land iguanas feed on the fruit and pads of the prickly pear cactus.

Or
North Seymour: North of Baltra is the small islet of North Seymour. The two islands are very similar in appearance both created from geological uplift and having typical arid vegetation including prickly pear cactus, palo santos trees and salt bushes.
The visitor trail on North Seymour is approximately (2 km) in length crossing the inland of the island and exploring the rocky coast. Along the way the trail passes colonies of blue-footed boobies and magnificent frigate birds.
The magnificent frigate bird, a large black bird with a long wingspan, and a hooked beak, is extremely fast and has excellent vision. Frigate birds are known for the large red pouch on their necks. During mating season the males thrown back their heads, inflate the pouch (sometimes to the size of a soccer ball), and shake trying to capture the attention of female frigates.
